In my own case, nothing could have been truer. After years of truancy, sleeping on NYC streets and shoplifting food to survive, I was emotionally and spiritually bankrupt. It wasn't until my mother's AIDS- related death that I woke up to how precious life is, which opened my heart and mind, inspiring me to transform my life. Without a clue where I'd sleep or what I'd eat, I worked my way through high school while I was simultaneously homeless, won a full scholarship from the New York Times and graduated from Harvard.

Now I have traveled the world for the last 10 years sharing tools for empowerment with others who are looking to change in their own lives. There is nothing I am more passionate about than seeing you win in your commitments. And if there is one thing I know for sure, from experience, it's that we cannot wait for our circumstances to change before acting, WE must change our circumstances. WE are the source of what sustains in our lives, and the time to have it be different is now.
